More Information about the Mentoring Families Program:

  • NEW THIS YEAR: We are hoping to arrange optional quarterly mentorship training sessions led by a NASPAG leader with expertise in mentorship.
  • The purpose of the program is mentorship and mentee-ism within our small community. NASPAG Mentoring Families concept is focused on making connections, multidirectional exchange of support and ideas, fostering growth and development, providing career or life advice, and encouraging research development, support and education.
  • Participating in a mentoring family is a year-long commitment that restarts annually after ACRM.
  • Families are formed by the working group and contacted by mid-summer 2024, consist of 5-8 members and are expected to meet at least 3-4 times per year.
  • Individuals in each family come from a variety of experience levels (ranging from students, trainees to experienced attendings or professors). Members may include students, trainees, residents in addition to providers specializing in pediatric and adolescent gynecology, adolescent medicine, general gynecology or clinical research. Each family is organized to have members of various experience levels in addition to shared interests for mentorship.
  • Families may be assigned designated leaders to coordinate meet-ups, or rotate responsibility during the year.
  • At the commencement, families are encouraged to confirm their commitment to the program and identify their goals and discussion topics that meet the needs of their unique members. Families are empowered to identify and achieve their individualized goals. Every family member should have the opportunity to both learn and contribute regardless of background or level of training.
  • To continue motivation and address any concerns, the working group will reach-out for family check-ins.
  • The year will cumulate with an end-of-year survey (to continue the success of the program) and an in-person Families Reunion at the ACRM meeting.

Please be sure to confirm your ability to commit to a Mentoring Family prior to signing-up. The deadline to enroll is June 21, 2024.

Thank you from the NASPAG Mentoring Families working group and we look forward to connecting all of you!
