NASPAG Research Network (NRN)

NEW! NRN now represents the combined missions of the Research Committee + NRN, taking the place of the two separate committees!

Purpose:

The purpose of the NASPAG Research Network (NRN) is to enable NASPAG members to work collaboratively, with both peers and leaders, to conduct multi-institutional research. Through scientifically rigorous multi-center studies, the NRN aims to increase visibility and recognition of NASPAG as a research leader in the field. The NRN is dedicated to supporting fellow and other trainee involvement in meaningful research that continues throughout training and beyond. 

To foster research interests of NASPAG and its members in single and multi-site projects, creating opportunities for collaboration, funding, and providing ongoing educational opportunities for members interested in research skills and endeavors. The ultimate goal is to improve the quantity and quality of pediatric and adolescent gynecology research including what is presented at the Annual Clinical and Research Meeting (ACRM) as well as published in the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (JPAG).

Objectives:

  1. To coordinate and assist in the collaboration between NASPAG members to conduct single and multi-site research
  2. To enhance NASPAG’s visibility and role as a leader in Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology (PAG) by ensuring that the NASPAG Research Network is a leader for research coordination in PAG
  3. To coordinate with the Website, Education and Abstract Committees in promoting research endeavors and grant opportunities within our membership
  4. To provide oversight to three working groups: Research education, Grants, and Research development

Sub-Committees: 

  1. Research Education: provide educational opportunities in research
    1. Partner with JPAG, program director committee, education committee to develop various education opportunities:
      1. Fellows Bootcamp at ACRM
      2. Didactics during meetings
      3. Fellow education
    2. Research mentorship/guidance
    3. Journal club - webinar format, conducted twice per year
  2. Research Development (former NRN steering committee):
    1. Focus on developing multicenter research projects
    2. Protocol review, development, partnership, DUA process etc
    3. Research mentors for each project - volunteer and assign 2 per project
    4. Track projects
    5. Listserv Survey review/approval
    6. Database development - on hold until funds secured for development
  3. Grants Work Group: solicits and manages funding to support research conducted by trainees and faculty at all levels. Guidance for this can be found in the Grants Blueprint document.
    1. Dedicate members to partnering with societies and other entities to determine where else we can partner to get funding for research through NASPAG
    2. Lead call for proposals, organization, review and award communication
    3. Two current grants: Young Scholars Grant and NRN Grant

Membership:

All NASPAG members are included in the NRN and are encouraged to submit research proposals for multi-center studies. All NASPAG members are also welcome to apply to join the advisory board or steering committee.
