Spring Advocacy Committee Update

The Advocacy Committee continues its hard work in the setting of our current sociopolitical climate and all the things that continue to affect reproductive healthcare. This is particularly important for sexuality and gender minority adolescents and young adults. Below is a summary of the committee’s most recent accomplishments and activities:

• Endorsement of ACOG Practice Guideline on OTC Opill (March 2024)

• Endorsement of FIGIJ Advocacy Statement Draft regarding Fertility Preservation (March 2024)

• Signed onto consensus statement Joint Statement of Consensus on Reproductive Health by ACOG, with other major OB/GYN organizations (Feb 2024)

• Continue to the Evening of Advocacy Program

• Statement collaboration with Antiracism Committee on removing race from medical calculators/algorithms

• Finalization of protocol for collaboration with FIGIJ

• Continuing to collaborate with ACOG, AMA, and other orgs. regarding access to abortion, gender-affirming care, and other PAG issues

• Resources for providers who practice in areas with limited resources and advocacy tools (gender care, abortion, template letters for insurance companies and state representatives

• Working on improving NASPAG Advocacy Committee visibility by ongoing collaborations and networking

• Work closely with Social media co-chairs & committee to share advocacy work and recruit ideas/support/collaboration
