The NASPAG Research Network (NRN) supports the NASPAG community through various avenues including NASPAG-funded research grants, research mentorship, education, and development of multi-institutional research studies. Starting this year, the new NASPAG Research Network Committee encompasses both the former Research Committee and former NRN.
The purpose of the NASPAG Research Network (NRN) is to foster the research interests of NASPAG and its members by creating opportunities for collaboration amongst peers and leaders, funding, developing studies, and conducting multi-institutional research. Through scientifically rigorous multi-center studies, the NRN aims to increase visibility and recognition of NASPAG as a research leader in the field and to improve the quantity and quality of pediatric and adolescent gynecology research. The NRN is dedicated to supporting fellow and other trainee involvement in meaningful research that continues throughout training and beyond.
We want to take this opportunity to highlight two NASPAG-funded research grants. Both of these grants are available for application once per year. New this year, both grant applications will open simultaneously in September 2026 with applications due the second week of October. Be on the look out for more information to come later this summer.

The NASPAG Research Network Grant is one $2400 grant which is open for any multi-site research studies which have been approved by the NASPAG Research Network. Applicants can be at any career level, preference may be given to those with less research experience.
2025 NRN Grant Recipient: Dr. Kristin Hare (PAG fellow) and Dr. Krista Childress (PAG) “Risk of Hepatic Veno-Occlusive Disease Following Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Patients Treated with Norethindrone Acetate for Menstrual Suppression”

The Young Investigators Grant is available as two $1500 grants for research related to pediatric and adolescent gynecology. Applicants must be a current trainee in a related field or an early career physician within 2 years com completing training in a related field.
2025 YIG Grant Recipient: Dr. Amelia Warshaw (adolescent medicine fellow) “Disordered Eating in Adolescents with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): A Prospective Case-Control Study”
2025 YIG Grant Recipient: Dr. Nicholas Schenck-Smith (OBGYN resident) “Contraceptive Choices Among Adolescents Following Therapeutic Abortion: A Retrospective Chart Review”
There are two options for membership in the NRN.
Apply to join the NRN Steering Committee. Committee members will be involved in at least one of three sub-committees (more information below) and will be integrally involved in advancing research education and research projects through NASPAG.
Grants: responsible for calling for applications and coordinating administration of two NASPAG sponsored grants (NRN Grant and Young Investigators Grant)
Research Development: focuses on development and mentorship of multi-institutional research studies, review of studies sent through NASPAG listserv, fostering development of research ideas

We have monthly meetings scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of the month at 8pm ET/7pm CT. The odd months will be open to the NRN general membership and will each be focused on a specific educational topic related to research.
