NASPAG NEXPLANON UPDATE - BY AUGUST 23, 2026
- The FDA now requires a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) for NEXPLANON to reduce complications from improper insertion or removal. Organon’s existing Clinical Training Program (CTP) has been incorporated into the new REMS.
- All HCPs who insert NEXPLANON must be REMS-certified by August 23, 2026. After this date, uncertified providers will lose access to NEXPLANON for insertion procedures.
- Active providers (completed CTP + inserted/removed NEXPLANON in the past 3 years):
Review the Prescribing Information/Instructions for Use and Healthcare Provider Guide, then complete and submit the online Knowledge Assessment + Enrollment Form at www.NEXPLANONREMS.com (or fax to 1-833-430-2807). No repeat CTP required. - Inactive or new providers: Complete the same steps above plus the Didactic Training and In-Person Practical Training (with Competency Checklist) provided by Organon.
Next step:
Visit www.NEXPLANONREMS.com or scan the QR code on the attached flyer to begin certification.
